Spelling
L. 11 words are spelled with double consonants in the middle of the word. The test is Friday. The lists are in the folders.

English
This week we will spend some time writing turkey stories in honor of the upcoming holiday, Thanksgiving. Students will be writing a Thanksgiving story from the point of view of a turkey. We will share these stories in class after I've graded them. Look for them to come home the Tuesday before Thanksgiving.

Reading
We will finish up lesson 3 this week in our workbooks. There will be a practice packet to come home to prepare for the quiz. The quiz is scheduled for Friday.

We also will be reading animal stories this week. Students will be working on comprehension skills and some higher level thinking questions and responses.

Science
We will finish up our unit on health. The students will have a test on Thursday. The study guide went home last Friday. It is in their science folders. I will go over the answers on Wednesday. We will finish up our health unit with a Health Fest on Friday. A note about this will come home today. Please let me know if you can send in healthy treats on Friday for us to eat. Some ideas would be: ants on a log, apple slices, spinach dip and crackers, veggies and dip, 100% fruit juice, chocolate milk, water, etc.

Social Studies
We will be studying the community of Astoria, Oregon. We learn about the location and history of Astoria and what people do for fun. We will compare this community to El Paso and our own communities.

Math
This week we will begin multiplication. This is chapter 3 in our textbooks. We will be referring to the 3rd grade textbook to begin learning about multiplication in addition to the 4th grade book we currently are studying in. Students will be taking the x2 mad minute. They will have a minute and a half to complete 26 problems. Next week begins x3's. Student will also be viewing a School House Rock video for each multiplication fact to help them learn these facts. We also are going to begin working on completing t-charts. We use t-charts to explain our thinking when we problem solve. I will be sending home information about t-charts this week.
