Classroom Chatter:
I sent home information regarding spring conferences on Friday. Spring conferences are scheduled on an "as needed" basis. I will not be requesting a conference for all students. Please read the information sent home and check off if you would like a conference (phone or in person) or if you don't feel a conference is necessary. Please return forms to me by Tuesday, 2/26. I will then send home a date and time for you to confirm our appointment.

We will continue working on L. 5 in our reading workbooks. This week we will work on characterization, situation (what is happening in a story), setting (where and when the story takes place), and character traits (personal qualities), similes, onomatopoeia, and forms of literature (fiction, non-fiction, poetry, fable). We also will continue to work on reading responses using the "hamburger" model to guide us. We are saving samples we do in class in our reading folder.

We will be having a quiz on Seasons, Eclipse, and Planets on Thursday. A study guide went home Friday. This week we will be in the computer lab working on space brochures about a planet. Thank you to Sarah for donating items to the Treasure Chest last week!

If you're planning on going to the Roller Skating party, please turn in your money and permission slips as soon as possible. Only 150 students will be allowed to go.

Parents, please pay attention to your child's lunch and what you're packing. There is so much food that students are throwing away. Please encourage your child to bring food that is uneaten home and not to throw it away. Thank you.

It is to the tune of the Farmer and the Dell. :) They will also need to put parts of a friendly letter in order correctly and proofread a friendly letter for mistakes.

Thank you to everyone who sent in goodies for the little surprise birthday party the students threw me on Wednesday at the end of the day. How thoughtful! I enjoyed reading all the cards everyone made. It makes me feel so special to be your teacher. Thank you to everyone. You all made my 29th birthday a memorable one!

Don't forget Monday is January's reading party. The following students already earned their 28 days of reading for January: Sarah, Amina, Caroline, Ashley, Paul, Morgan L., Lukas, Matt Mc., Morgan M., Matthew Mi., Tim, Vivian, Mackenzie, and Ian. If your name is not posted here, you need to make sure you bring in your folder Monday to get credit for January's party. We will be eating with Miss Carlstrom's class.

This week is IOWA testing. Students will be testing Monday-Thursday. Like always, students should make sure they get a good night's sleep and eat a good breakfast.

Thursday is the Valentine's Day Party. I sent a list home on Friday with students' names to help with valentines. I will set aside time on Thursday before the party for students to pass out valentines. The party will be in the afternoon starting at 1:30. We look forward to a "sweet" time!
