Happy Memorial Day weekend! Enjoy your holiday! I can't believe it is Memorial Day weekend!!!! :)
This is our final week of curriculum. We will be finishing up our units as the week comes to an end. Thank you to everyone who sent in your child with a glue stick. It will help us out so much when we are putting our scrapbooks together!
Spelling
We will spend this week practicing some 4th grade spelling words by playing sparkle and doing some activities. No test this week.
English
We will spend this week finishing up writing an expository paper.
Reading
We will work on our mystery unit!
Social Studies
We will finish up ancient Egypt with Cleopatra and hieroglyphics.
Science
We will finish up science by learning about the scientific method.
Math
We will spend the week doing long division.

Classroom Chatter
Monday the Indian Prairie and Downers Grove libraries will visit to tell us all about their summer reading program!
Thursday we have our bowling field trip in the morning. In the afternoon, our 2nd grade pen pals come to visit!
Spelling :: We are done with spelling for the year. We will use this time to do word work and phonics.
Reading :: We will continue with our unit of Fairy Tales as we compare and contrast 2 Cinderella stories. We also start our mystery unit!
English :: Due to early dismissal on Friday and Jr. Achievement, I moved the English test to Monday 5/21.
We then will do a writing unit on expository papers.
Social Studies :: We will finish up our Eye on Egypt books by learning about King Tut and Cleopatra.
Science :: We will start our last unit on the scientific method. There will not be a final test on this unit.
Math :: There will be a CYP on L. 1-5 on Monday, a CYP on L. 6-8 on Thursday and the chapter 9 test on Friday. We will spend the rest of the year doing long division. There will not a test on division. The final test is chapter 9.

Did your son or daughter share the exciting news as how I'll still be a "teacher" to them next year?!? Yes, I will be Prairieview's library teacher/media specialist! I'm very excited for this new opportunity and hope to see some familiar faces for visits or volunteering in the IMC!!!! ;)

Reading
We will end our Magic Unit with a MAGIC SHOW on Monday at 1:00 pm in Mrs. Csorba's room (Room 105). We can't wait to dazzle, amaze, and mystify you! Thanks in advance to all those who can make it!
We will begin our next unit on Fairy tales.

Your child's MAPS scores will be sent home by me at the end of the week. Once you obtain your child's scores, there is a link on our District website. Click here to play games according to your child's score to help them improve. This link would make for a great ideas for summer practice.
Thank you to all of you that donated items to Book Worm Angels Drive. There were many books that were collected!!!

L. 25's words are frequently misspelled words. There will be a pretest Monday. The test is Friday and homework will be due on Friday.
Reading
Save the Date for our Magic Show. It will be Monday, 5/14 at 1:00. Look for an invitation to come home this week! Vocab quiz on our magic words on Tuesday.

We will continue to work on our unit of capitalization and punctuation. This week we will focus on abbreviations, book titles and introductory words.
Social Studies
We will continue with our study of Egypt.
Science
We will study sound.
Math
We will finish up chapter 8 on fraction concepts. We will take a CYP on Wednesday. The test will be Friday 5/11. The next few weeks we will cover chapter 9: addition and subtraction of fractions. Then the remaining class time will be used to learn long division. Chapter 8 and 9 will be the last 2 tests we will take. There will not be a test on long division, just graded work (CYP's).
