Classroom Chatter

It is great to be back at school and working with your children. Everyone greeted me with smiles and hugs. I can't believe how much they've grown! Looking forward to spending the next couple of weeks wrapping things up for the summer. We have a lot of fun things to look forward to!

We will have a special assembly called Bubble Wonder on Tuesday. Ask your child about it!

Don't forget Friday is early dismissal. Students are dismissed at 11am.

This week Prairieview is collecting gym shoes in any shape and all other shoes that still have "some life in them" for Character Counts. We want to help cut down on the amount going into landfills. The shoes will be either donated to places that help people or will be sent to Nike's recycyling center. Here they recycyle gym shoes into a variety of objects including floor mats. Please tie the shoes together or put them in a plastic grocery bag so that they do not become separated. Thank you for your support. At Prarieview school...Character Counts!!!

Spelling

L. 31's words are on contractions. There will be a pretest Monday and the test is on Friday.

English

We will be working on writing persuasive papers this week.

Reading

We will begin a new mystery unit!

Science

I spoke too soon. 4th grade extensively covers electricity and magnets so we will move on to Ch. 14. Chapter 14 covers Heat, Light, and Sound. This will be our final unit.

Social Studies
We will continue studying the history of Chicago. This week we will learn about the great Chicago fire!

Math

We will be taking a mad minute in division 12's this week. Next week, will be our final week of mad minutes with division MIXED! Continue to practice all division facts!

We began chapter 10 decimals last week. We will continue this week with the unit. This will be our last chapter we will test on. The test isn't for a few weeks. After we test on chapter 10, we will spend the rest of the year working on higher level multiplication and long division. I want to introduce this to the students. We won't test on it though.
