Week of December 1-5

Classroom Chatter

I hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving!


Conferences are being held this week with your child's reading teacher. Please be on time for you conference. It is only a 15 minute time slot. We look forward to meeting with the parents of our reading students this week.


Science
We will finish up the introductory unit in science this week. A study guide will come home this week to help your child start studying. The test is scheduled for Tuesday 12/9.


Social Studies
We will begin chapter 3. In chapter 3 we will learn why people move from place to place. We will begin by talking about what an opportunity is and why people in a community may have come from different places.

Spelling
L. 11's words are spelled with double consonants in the middle of the word. The list will go home Monday. The test is Thursday (no school Friday). There will not be a pretest this week. The homework will be due on Wednesday. The workbook pages are p. 60-63. The abc order sheet will come home Wednesday and is due on Thursday.


English
We will resume learning about verbs. This week we will study about verbs in the future tense, helping verbs, and the special verb form of be.


Reading
This week we will continue with the self question strategy. Students will be reading a new story called Grandma's Records. We will have a vocabulary quiz on Thursday.

Math
This week we will finish up chapter 3. We will take the 2nd checkpoint on Tuesday 12/2. The chapter 3 test is scheduled for Thursday 12/4. We will take a mad minute in x8's this week.
