Classroom Chatter
I'm very excited to announce that on January 20, our class will be getting a student teacher. Miss Nikki Griffin will be working and learning with our classroom from January through May. We will meet Nikki on Tuesday, when she comes in for a visit. We look forward to having her work with us for the remainder of the year!
Book orders went home on Friday. They are due by Tuesday 1/20. Remember you can purchase them online or send in the paper order form with a check. Thanks in advance for your order.
Don't forget Monday is Martin Luther King Jr. Day so no school. Enjoy the long weekend.
Due to the snow day before break, we missed our trip to the Tivoli for a movie. The school is still planning on going to the Tivoli to watch a movie once the snow melts and the weather warms up. Movie and date will be announced at a later date.
Science
We will be finishing up chapter 4 on ecosystems. The test will be the following week. I tentatively have it planned for Wednesday 1/21. A study guide will come home this week.
Social Studies
We will begin chapter 9 Making Choices this week. Lesson one teaches us about spending, saving, and a budget.

Spelling
No spelling this week due to IOWA testing.
English
We will take a Friendly Letter quiz on Thursday, 1/15. Students need to know the 5 parts of a friendly letter. Also, they will put a friendly letter in order that is mixed up. Students will also have to proofread a friendly letter. All papers in the english folder will help them prepare for this quiz.
Reading
We will continue with summarize. Most of our reading time will be used for IOWA testing this week.

This week we will be taking IOWA tests in math. The Chapter 4 test is scheduled for Friday 1/16. We will be taking x12's this week.
