Week of January 19-23

Important Dates:
*No school Monday 1/19 Martin Luther King Jr. Day

*Book orders due Tuesday 1/20
*Tuesday 1/20 dress in Red, White, and Blue for Inauguration Day
*Ms. Griffin starts her student teaching on Tuesday 1/20!!!



Classroom Chatter

Thank you to Maggie and Sophia who brought in treats for IOWA testing last week.

Book orders are due on Tuesday. They will come home as soon as they arrive. Thank you for your order!



Science
We fell behind in science due to IOWA testing. We will finish up chapter 4 with lesson 4 this week. The test is now scheduled for next week, Wednesday, 1/28.


Social Studies
We will continue in chapter 9 on Making Choices. This week we will cover lesson 2: Choosing Wisely. Students will learn about economic choice and opportunity cost.

Spelling

This week is L. 13. The words are past tense of final y words. There will not be a pretest this week. The test will be Friday. This week's homework will be assigned on Tuesday and due Thursday. They are workbook pages 70-73. An ABC order sheet will come home Thursday night.

English
We will begin our next unit on adjectives. This week we will learn about adjectives that tell how many and what kind.



Reading
We will be spending the next few weeks reading the novel, Stone Fox. There will be a vocabulary quiz on the words from chapters 1-4 on Friday. The list is in the reading folder in the reading packet named Stone Fox.

Math
We will begin ch. 11 on geometry. This week we will cover polygons, lines, line segments, parallel and perpendicular lines, circumference, radius, and diameter.
